In this unfiltered conversation, you'll hear directly from Jamie Meade, who was sentenced to LWOP for aiding and abetting felony murder at 19 years old in 1993. Despite the person primarily responsible being convicted of a lesser offense and released after 12 years, Jamie faces the prospect of spending his life in prison. Currently serving as the National Resources Director and State Director of the National Lifers of America, Jamie is also a Member of Discernment at Woodside Church in Flint, Michigan. He is actively pursuing a path towards ordained ministry and is enrolled in a Master's in Divinity program at the Chicago Theological Seminary.

I think it is important to note that it does really seem to be true, once the facilities/MDOC/ whoever, know that people will advocate for their friends and family there does tend to be results. I have always thought that the complaints by some of those incarcerated were exaggerated or perhaps deliberately skewed, and perhaps sometimes they are. But I have had enough experience now since actively helping Jamie advocate for himself, to see that in many cases those claims are in no way an exaggeration.
