Judge Sharon Tevis Finch
-- Jamie Meade on Second Look Sentencing Legislation
Born in Trenton, MI, raised in River Rouge, MI. Played hockey and baseball as a child and teenager. In 1993, at the age of 19, I entered prison convicted of accessory to a felony murder and sentenced to life without the possibility of parole, better known as "Death By Incarceration." My goal is to earn a second chance at life outside of prison, to become an ordained minister helping troubled youth, to complete law school and a PhD, and to teach criminology at the university level.
Advocating to reform the criminal justice system and fighting to end mass incarceration. In addition, I'm a Member in Discernment with the United Church of Christ (UCC) Michigan Covenant Association on a path to ordained ministry.
I'm currently pursuing a Master of Divinity (M.Div.) from the Chicago Theological Seminary. I've completed a BA in Interdisciplinary Studies with Concentrations in Criminal Justice and Legal Studies from Adams State University. I've also completed two Certification Programs in Victim Advocacy and Alternative Dispute Resolution from Adams State. In addition, I've completed a Paralegal Assistant Diploma Program from Blackstone Career Institute.
“I have never heard Jamie place blame beyond himself for his incarceration, never known him not to take full responsibility”
